The POSCO Educational Foundation (POSEF) was established on January 27, 1971 to educate and train the children of POSCO employees become competent citizens who will work for the advancement of the nation. The establishment of these high-quality schools has been recognized both at home and abroad as one of the key success factors behind POSCO’s growth. POSEF now operates a system of twelve schools serving over 8,600 students from kindergarten to high school (2 high schools, 1 technical high school, 2 middle schools, 5 elementary schools and 2 kindergartens).
Through diverse extracurricular activities and systematic curricula that include character-building, creativity, English, mathematics and science, each of these schools presents students with opportunities
to discover and develop their talents. Furthermore, our educational competitiveness will be extended to the 13th school, which is scheduled to open in Songdo, Incheon in 2015.
Alumni of the POSEF schools number over 100,000 who are well-established in many different fields and professions. We strive to create an environment that encourages and enables alumni to remain
connected to their alma mater, and to be a part of a diverse, vibrant community with ties to POSEF.
The location of POSTECH, a world-leading science and engineering university, in the POSCO housing complex makes the POSEF schools in the area all the more complete and attractive. POSEF has also
promoted top-notch education throughout the provincial cities by attracting teachers of high-caliber and thereby contributing to the sustainable development and population growth within these cities.
Fostering global citizens through education with inspiration and happy schooling is POSEF’s new vision statement. This vision will help POSEF continue to cultivate the creative talent needed in this global age. Seven educational goals that have been set to implement the vision: creativity, character, intelligence, talent & career, arts & culture, sports, and global citizenship.
